HandySoft and Corticon Deliver the Next Generation of Business Decision and Process Management Software
Coupling
best-of-breed business process management and business rules engine
will maximize the ROI of process improvement initiatives, enabling
an unprecedented degree and flexibility of process automation
VIENNA, VA and SAN MATEO, CA , April 7, 2003HandySoft Corporation
today announced its global alliance with Corticon Technologies,
the leading provider of next-generation business rules software. The
alliance joins best-in-class business process management (BPM) and
decision management solutions to create a single enterprise environment
that supports the rapid design and deployment of complex and intelligent
business processes while minimizing costly coding and customization.
HandySoft will offer the easy-to-use Corticon rules engine as a complementary option to BizFlow, its award-winning platform for BPM and workflow automation. This will benefit organizations that want business-managed decision services that can be reused across BPM and other applications. BPM solutions built with BizFlow and Corticon give complete control of business processes to the business user. Business process owners can establish the decision rules for decision-making activities within the flow of work, then design and automate the process itself using a point-and-click design tool that enables easy integration of ERPs, databases, and other back-end systems.
BizFlow and Corticon also both support Web Services, enabling the two platforms to work in concert in complex applications that integrate a variety of IT resources. Use of Web Services also makes rules-based process management more flexible and efficient, enabling organizations to change their rules logic only once for all business processes that use them. This ensures optimal performance of automated processes and reduces the need for costly coding.
A Gartner study from December 5, 2002, encourages enterprises to "Look for BPM technologies that employ externalized rules for agile business processes." HandySoft chose Corticon due to its enhanced ease of use, ease of integration and superior performance relative to other available business rule engines. These Corticon-specific advantages offer HandySoft customers a dramatic reduction in the total cost of ownership of solutions that automate complex, decision-intensive business processes. Now, business users can quickly and easily define the logic of complex decision-making tasks, and then automate those tasks within business processes that interact with multiple back-end systems, delivered as unified, Internet-enabled applications.
"The powerful combination of Corticon and HandySoft technologies
will help companies achieve a competitive advantage by allowing
business users to directly capture and automate best practices,
policies, and business processes with minimal programming assistance,"
said Dr. Mark Allen, CEO of Corticon. "This means greater
productivity for business users and development teams."
"We are confident that the addition of Corticon's Decision Management software to HandySoft's business process management and workflow technology will greatly increase the productivity of customers who deal with complex business rules and decision-making," commented Stuart Claggett, chief operating officer for HandySoft. "This improved productivity will further improve the ROI that our customers and shareholders expect."
