CORTICON EXPANDS MANAGEMENT TEAM AND BOARD

Corticon Technologies Adds New SVP Field Operations and New Board Member

REDWOOD CITY, CA., August 16, 2006 —Corticon® Technologies, the leader in model-driven Business Rules Management Systems, today announced the election of Jim Thanos to its Board of Directors and the appointment of Gino Padua to its management team as senior vice president, field operations. Padua will be responsible for all aspects of sales for the company.

"Over the past few years, Corticon has seen tremendous growth and penetration into our key markets," said Dr. Mark Allen, Corticon CEO and co-founder. "We are fortunate to add Gino and Jim, who each bring deep field operations experience that will help us to further accelerate our growth."

Thanos has over 20 years of experience at the senior management levels in enterprise software companies where he has focused on sales, business development, alliances and marketing. Most recently, Thanos served as executive vice president and GM, worldwide field operations at Broadvision, helping to grow the company revenue from $27M to $414M. Prior to Broadvision, Thanos held executive sales roles at Aurum, Harvest Software, Metaphor, Informix and Dunn and Bradstreet Computing Services. Thanos now sits on multiple boards, including Pilot Software and Cogency Software, and is an investor and advisor for venture investment organizations including El Dorado Ventures.

"What excites me about Corticon is that they help customers solve highly complex problems with simplicity," said Thanos. "Traditionally, the automation of sophisticated business decisions was the domain of specialized programmers. Corticon, through their unique, model-driven rules approach, has put the power of business rules in the hands of much larger set of users and businesses. I believe that this represents a very significant business opportunity."

Padua brings over 18 years of field operations experience developing early stage software companies into successful ventures. He served as vice president, sales and business development at Above All Software, where he was instrumental in building the company's customer-facing operations. Prior to Above All Software, Padua served as a key member of the Broadvision senior management team. Padua's leadership and contributions were evident in his key role as senior vice president, worldwide channels and business development, where he helped drive revenues from $27M to over $450M. Padua also held senior leadership posts at the Baan Company, Brock Control Systems and Xscribe Corporation.

"Enterprises today are addressing customer and business value through agility," said Gino Padua, SVP Field Operations. "In order to deliver real value to the business they need to create or change the decisions within their business processes in days instead of months. Once I saw the Corticon solution, I knew that Corticon could deliver that value. Then I had a chance to speak to Corticon's customers and heard overwhelming references about the company and the Corticon software."

"We have some aggressive growth targets over the next couple of years. I expect that Jim and Gino will be instrumental in assuring that we hit those goals," said Dr. Allen.
