Corticon Technologies Demonstrates Model-Driven Business Rules Management at Forrester Technology Leadership Conference 2007

Business Rule Based Decisions within Business Processes Help Drive Applications that are "Designed for People, Built for Change"

Redwood City, CA - September 25, 2007 -Corticon® Technologies (www.corticon.com),the leader in model-driven Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS), is participating at the Forrester Technology Conference 2007, September 24-25 in Carlsbad, CA. This year's theme "Design for People, Build for Change" examines the complex interaction between the information workplace technologies and new ways of creating business applications that are designed for usability and rapid adaptation. Business Process Management (BPM) and Business Rules Management are key themes being covered aligned to the themes of usability and adaptability. Business rules are the modern, agile technology used to describe the logic of business decisions that exist within an organization's business processes -- decisions such as approving an insurance claim or determining what offer to make a customer.

Business decisions often represent more than 50% of the activity that occurs within many organizations' business processes. Exposing these critical business assets, Corticon's Business Rules Management System enables enterprises to "build for change" and is an integral part of a well architected business process-based application. Business rule models describe how decisions are made for activities within business processes. As models, the business rules are easily defined by business side users such as business analysts. The Corticon-based rules models can be fully analyzed and tested by the same modeler. When complete, the rules models are automatically compiled into standards based Decision Services (as web services or Java Services) which can be called by any business process based application or legacy application. This set of capabilities drives 90% of the cost and time out of creating and maintaining business logic as compared with other forms of coding or competing business rules systems.

Several presentations at the conference will explore the growing use of business rules in IT enterprise architectures including a keynote panel which includes Corticon customer Theo van den Hurk, vice president of Group Finance BPM Solutions Developments at ABN AMRO on "Automating Business Processes: What's Real, What's Potential". Other presentations which highlight the relevance and effect of a Business Rules Management System on usable and adaptable applications include Forrester vice president and principal analyst, John Rymer's presentation on "Business Rules Software: Why You Need to Care" and a roundtable on the "Convergence of The Three B's: Business Intelligence, Business Process Management, and Business Rules" lead by Forrester analysts John Rymer, Colin Teubner and Boris Evelson.

The transparency of the business logic and application's structure allows not only greater insight and understanding into the legacy code, but also drives the modernization decision process to other more cost-effective, maintainable languages and platforms. Part of the Corticon mining process is the automatic conversion of existing business rules into Corticon business rule models which can subsequently be used in any modern service oriented architecture. The result is increased transparency, maintainability and faster ROI, serving as the foundation for the modernization of enterprise applications.
