Corticon Receives Seed Investment from American Century
KANSAS CITY, MO. (VENTUREWIRE, MARCH 26, 2001)Corticon Technologies, a developer of Internet infrastructure software directed towards financial services and insurance industries, said American Century Ventures, which has invested over $60 million in 12 portfolio companies to date, has made an investment in the company. The amount was not disclosed. This is Corticon's seed round, in which American Century is the sole investor. The money will be used for research and development. The company was founded in February 2000 by chairman and CEO, Dr. Mark Allen, and CTO and vice president of engineering, Pedram Abrari. Corticon's board members include Charles Blalack, chairman and CEO of investment banking firm Blalack & Co., and Craig Johnson, partner at investment firm Saw Island Partners.
