Corticon Technologies Appoints Two Vice Presidents to Round Out Executive Management Team

SAN MATEO, CALIF., October 11, 2001—Corticon Technologies, a supplier of enterprise software for decision management within the financial services and insurance industries, today announced that it has expanded its executive team with the recruitment of Gary Grandmaison to vice president of sales and the promotion of Mike Bleyle to vice president of client services. Both positions will report directly to Corticon President and CEO Dr. Mark Allen.

Grandmaison will drive and manage all sales components of the company, further strengthening Corticon's position with the financial services and insurance markets. In addition, Grandmaison is chartered with developing strategies to enhance Corticon's relationships with current customers and forging alliances with new markets, such as manufacturing and healthcare.

In Bleyle's new position as vice president of client services, he is responsible for developing business strategies and plans for key Corticon customers. Bleyle will work directly with customers to determine the scope of projects and then provide the management and resources needed to install and integrate the software at the customers' sites. Customers also rely on Bleyle for continued maintenance and training support. Ultimately, he is responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.

"We are aggressively expanding our sales presence in the United States and gaining new customers. We are also ensuring that our current customers are given a unique combination of technical acumen and customer support," said Allen. "Corticon balances its software innovation with customer intimacy to ensure that each new and old customer has the ability to maximize their shareholders' wealth. Gary and Mike have each demonstrated remarkable leadership abilities that will be valuable assets to Corticon as we continue to experience growth in the enterprise software market."

A sales veteran with more than 25 years of experience, Grandmaison joins Corticon from the document management industry. Grandmaison began his sales career with Xerox, where he served as vice president of sales. There he led two of his California districts to the top sales spot in the nation. He was a member of Xerox's President's Club for 19 years and was consistently ranked in the top 10 percent of the U.S. sales force. He also served as president of Ikon's Southern California office. While at Ikon, Grandmaison conducted weekly sales training and motivation seminars throughout the United States. True to his entrepreneurial spirit, Grandmaison founded GBS, a GeoGraphic Information System (GIS) database software company currently developing products for a wide variety of industries. Grandmaison holds a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University.

Bleyle served as Corticon's director of client services before his promotion to vice president of client services. Before joining Corticon over a year ago, Bleyle ran technical sales and implementation teams in North America for ECnet, a global supply-chain management software firm. He began his civilian career as senior marketing manager at Applied Materials, the largest semiconductor equipment manufacturer in the world. For five years Bleyle served as a Naval officer aboard nuclear-powered cruisers. He was responsible for the safe maintenance and operation of reactor electronics, as well as the ship's nuclear training program. Bleyle holds a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
