TRINITY MILLENNIUM AND CORTICON TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Integration of Software and Service to Drive the Migration of Business Rules from Legacy Applications
Redwood City, Calif. and San Antonio, Texas - June 25, 2007 - Corticon® Technologies (www.corticon.com), the leader in model-driven Business Rules Management Systems and Trinity Millennium Group (TMGi, www.tringroup.com),a global provider of legacy modernization and knowledge mining services and solutions, today announced a strategic relationship centering on the integration of the Corticon Business Rules Management System with Trinity's tools and services. The result of this partnership is a complete solution to drive the successful and cost-effective identification and migration of business logic from legacy applications to a set of executable Corticon business rules models as a component of a modern service oriented architecture.
"Business logic is the heart and soul of a business application," said David Garza, CEO and President, TMGi. "The Trinity process helps to bring these important assets to the surface by knowledge mining existing applications. This is a cost-effective and accurate way to extract business logic into Corticon's Business Rules Management System, which delivers superior transparency and agility as well as lower costs compared to maintaining the rules in a traditional programming language. The Trinity process also includes automated tools for transforming the remainder of the legacy application, such as the user interface, database and all application control logic into modern platforms like Java. Together, this provides a low-risk way to move legacy systems into an agile service oriented architecture, with much lower costs and timeframes than traditional re-development."
The Trinity Millennium Group has developed the automated Trinity Modernization Process (TMP) that is based on a patent pending set of tools and processes. The Trinity service can process more than 100 languages and database schemas simultaneously, capturing and understanding all of the artifacts within an enterprise application, including an organization's business logic (i.e. business rules). The business rules uncovered by the TMGi process are then transformed into fully executable Corticon rules models. Corticon is unique in its ability to represent business rules as models that are understandable by both business users and IT programmers; thereby making the transformed business logic easy to understand and adapt. Corticon's models are also fully executable and exposed as Web services, making them easy to call directly from, and reuse across applications.
"Applications may consist of hundreds of thousands or millions of lines of code that have become extremely convoluted because of less than ideal maintenance and enhancement practices," said Dale Vecchio, Research VP, Gartner Group. "Creating an inventory that explains the structural components of an application, as well as a more-detailed documentation of the business rules buried among the environmental code in an application, is important." *
"The market has realized that separating business logic into an adaptable Business Rules Management System delivers tremendous value," said Dr. Mark Allen, CEO Corticon Technologies. "Issues that compel organizations to implement a BRMS include lower costs, an increase in the ability to change business logic quickly and gaining a clear understanding of what the business logic is doing (transparency). But most organizations have a significant amount of their existing business logic locked away in legacy applications. By teaming with Trinity, our joint customers can leverage a proven solution to unlock these critical assets, and then cost-effectively transform the business logic into modern assets following a business rules approach."
